Occupational Therapists Help Restore Independence at MediLodge of Sterling Heights

April is OT month!

Our Occupational Therapists here at MediLodge of Sterling Heights work very hard every day to ensure our Lodgers keep a certain level of independence in their daily activities.  Occupational therapy focuses on tasks such as dressing, bathing, grooming, transfers and using the restroom.  Some Lodgers would not be able to do some of those things without our OTs!Sterling Hts OT month

Here is what some Lodgers are saying about their therapists and therapy sessions:

Violet T. who recently lost one of her legs says, “I just don’t know what I’d do without my OT. They are helping me adjust to doing things with one leg.”

Ruth M. is here at MediLodge of Sterling Heights while her femur fracture heals.  She says, “the therapists are here for us. They give us constant encouragement, and I can already see a difference in the one week I’ve been here.”

Dorothy K. is recovering from a broken ankle and says “the therapists help me feel confident and are teaching me to use adaptive equipment to help get dressed.”

Thomas I. says “the therapists really understand what you’re going through and relate to you.”   Mary, MediLodge of Sterling Heights OTR , is training Tom in his electric wheelchair so he can move around more easily.

Christopher D. came to MediLodge hardly able to walk.  With therapy, he is now completely independent with most of his daily activities.

Doris S. had a stroke and was fitted for a hand splint to prevent contracture of the hand.  It also helped improved movement in the fingers.

There have been many Lodgers that have benefited from therapy here at MediLodge of Sterling Heights.
